Spirit of Power ( vss. 1-41)

-very controversial point - Satan's tool of division

-this event in Christian history is all about unity

"Spiritual authority is backed by Scriptural authority"

ch. 1-2 Peter references Old Testament four times

*Warning: a lack of discernment comes from not being grounded in Scripture

-Spirit would never lead someone to do something opposed to scripture

-Knowing scripture and not doing it is more our position (grieving, quenching, suppressing)

Story of Pentecost:

a. Filling, Utterance, Astonishment, Accusation

b. Unity and declaration, Confidence and focus

c. Ears, heart, mouth and transformation

Effects of Power ( vss. 42-47)

"The Spirit isn't in last place because he's the third person of the Trinity."

-they were devoted to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread and prayer

-they were glad, had generous hearts, selling possessions and giving it away
